GENERAL HEALTH SYSTEM is Hiring a System Engineer II Near Baton Rouge, LA

JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION: The Systems Engineer will provide comprehensive administration, monitoring and support of all core IT infrastructure systems. Including but not limited to VMware, Windows, RHEL, Citrix XenApp, Citrix XenDesktop, SolarWinds, Cisco UCS, EMC SAN, EMC backup products, FTP, antivirus, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, GPO, IIS, Exchange, clustering, Certificate Management, SQL, Oracle, Cisco Unified Communication Manager, Cisco Call Center, voice mail, Jabber, TACACS, intrusion detection services, Cisco NCS, Cisco ASA, Minitab, F5 LTM, RightFax, and ZetaFax. This includes all hardware platforms, operating systems, databases, network protocols, telephony, datacenter operations, security, scripting and other tools.

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

JOB FUNCTIONS

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:

1. Functions as clinical liaison between IS Department and Patient Care Areas.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
• Provides education to clinical staff regarding Information System’s clinical applications.
• Assists clinical staff in identifying cause and solution to computer issues.
• Collaborates in development and distribution of information to clinical staff.
• Provides cross-training for other members of the IS staff with regard to clinical information systems.
• Works with patient care departments in identifying enhancement and/or change requests for applications; works with I/S technical staff to determine feasibility of requests and communicates back to departments expected outcomes.

2. Provides clinical expertise in evaluation of computer programs and applications; and supports implementation and maintenance of clinical information applications.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
• Performs master file and table maintenance for assigned applications.
• Works collaboratively with both internal and external technical experts to ensure programs and applications meet the needs of an interdisciplinary group of end users.
• Works with I/S technical staff in development of education, literature and training programs to optimize end users’ ability to interact effectively with programs and applications.
• Maintains daily functions of clinical applications.
• Participates in testing of systems or applications before implementation to ensure functionality.
• Assists in establishing and maintaining effective and efficient security of applications, based on “real world” use within BRGMC.
• Maintains knowledge of current technology in the healthcare environment.

3 Performs all other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two plus years previous systems engineering experience
Two plus years of relevant experience across multiple technical disciplines, in design, implementation and support streams of the technology
Experience with supporting large-scale IT operations of at least 1000-2500 servers preferred
Previous IT experience in a hospital or critical care environment preferred

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent work experience (add 8 years to experience required)

SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Microsoft, Citrix, VMware, Cisco and ITIL Certified Preferred
Ability to think outside the box to solve problems to meet business requirements
Ability to creatively apply technology and existing solutions to meet business requirements
Broad knowledge of relevant technologies and how they can be applied practically to solve business problems
Excellent attitude, communication skills, verbal, written and presentation
Self-motivated, priority and project driven, eager to learn and progress career in IT
Oncall support, after hours support needed
Team player must be able to work with people within and outside of the IT department
Customer service focused
Strong organizational and analytical and skills
Ability to work under pressure and handle stress well
HIPAA REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: medical record without limitation, patient demographics, lab results, patient financial and 3rd party billing information, patients related complaints, information related to patient location.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: incident reporting, exposure control plan, hand washing for all age groups.
